Frank Gehry is a leading American architect. His work is known for its use a combination of natural light, decomposing forms, and other elements. The New York by Gehry building was his first skyscraper, and was completed in 2009. The building's stainless-steel facade beat 220 towers across the globe.

His focus began to shift in the late 1980s. He started to receive more national commissions. His projects include the Vitra International Furniture Manufacturing Facility (Germany) and Design Museum (Germany), the Yale Psychiatric Institute in Los Angeles and the Aerospace Museum of Los Angeles.
